On September 18, 2013, scientific and technological achievements appraisal meeting of “high power hydrogen storage alloy containing RE series to electric vehicle ” and “metal hydride hydrogen storage device based on technology of Solid state hydrogen storage” was held in Fangxing building in Haidian district Beijing. The meeting organized by China Non-ferrous Metals Industry Association, was presided over by the Chinese nonferrous metal industry association director Zhang Long, and professor Ma Shiguang who is the standing vice-chairman concurrently Secretary General of the China non-ferrous metal processing industry association, Professor Chen Shi from Beijing Institute of Technology and other 5 experts composition of the expert group.
The achievement of “high power hydrogen storage alloy containing RE series to electric vehicle” is from 863 program and Special fund for the industry development of Beijing. We prepared the hydrogen storage alloy with great high power performance, low temperature performance and dynamic characteristics successfully, by adopting composition optimization, controlling cooling speed and medium temperature accurately, surface treatment and other innovative technologies. Meanwhile, the cost of the alloy was reduced effectively and high-quality raw materials were provided for Ni/MH battery, promoting the application of electric vehicle. Now, we have built a production line with annual output of high power type hydrogen storage alloy powder up of 1000 tons. And the product can meet any requirement of State authorized organs testing with high comprehensive properties and quality stability, which has been used in fabricating the power battery in hybrid bus, and brought a good economic and social benefits. All the expert agreed that the technology of the project ranked top in the domestic, and the product had a wide application prospect, increasing the widespread efforts.
“Metal hydride hydrogen storage device based on technology of Solid state hydrogen storage” was our company owned project. We prepared the hydrogen storage alloy with excellent comprehensive properties by optimizing composition and process. We have dealt with the cracking and distortion of the device caused by piling up of the powders adopting innovative structure inner hydrogen storage device, improving the device structure stability and interior heat transfer and mass transfer performance of the device effectively. Moreover, our product has many advantages, such as high hydrogen storage density, low pressure, high security, good stability, high purity of releasing hydrogen, and long cycle life. At present, we had already built a production line with annual output of hydrogen storage device up of 2000, and the products had been met testing requirement of relevant departments. Our product can be used in the hydrogen recycling system, energy storage and fuel cell, preparation and storage of ultra high pure hydrogen and other industries, and has brought good economic benefit. All the experts agreed that the technology of the whole project had upped to the international advanced level, and partial parameters occupied domestic leading level, and the product had a wide widespread application prospect.
